This cache is in The Magothy Greenway Natural Area off of Mountain Road in Lake Shore, MD between Looper's Field off North Shore Rd. and Three Sister's Dr. off of Lake Shore Dr. This is our very first cache hide as it is a special place for us. We often frequent these trails on evening bike rides and dog walks and we really wanted to share this cool area with our fellow Geocachers. This is an easy walk and an easy find as carefully chosen by the youngsters in the house. Special gems included for tokens, please feel free to take one and leave one.
Wildlife is abundant here as it is undeveloped. Deer often cross the paths through the woods and will stop to inspect you as you travel. We have seen bunnies, squirrels, many birds, and foxes. We even saw a coyote once! Take a moment to stop and listen to the quietness of the land. It is extra beautiful in early autumn when the leaves are vibrant.
The Magothy Greenway Natural Area is part of the Anne Arundel County Park trail system. This is a great area to walk and explore all nature has to offer. The trails are well maintained and bikes and pets are welcome. If you want to simply go for the cache it is a short hop, skip and jump from Three Sister's Drive. If you are up for a longer trek the trails offer about 6 miles in total of walking and there are other various trailheads off of North Shore Drive and access from Looper's Field is also available.
Fun fact: As you traverse the pathways you will notice colored markings on some of the trees -- these markings designate different loops throughout the preserve and are used in County led trail-hikes in the fall. Did you spot the one tree marking that looks like a face?
