Jimba (now known as Jimbour)
The original name of Jimba was taken from the local Aboriginal language and was thought to mean "good grass".
The property which became known as Jimbour Pastoral Run was first named by Henry Dennis in 1841. The holding in1877 had land resumed from it in order to establish smaller farms. The land was offered for selection on 24 April 1877. It was during this time that the first selections were made in the Bell District. The Pastoral Run had all the amenities of a small town and as years progressed the town of Jimbour was established at its current site.
Jimbour Historic Homestead is a prominent feature in the Jimbour District. Worth a visit if you have time.
The road that you will travel to Jimba Cache is the start of our local access road to Jimbour and Macalister. A nice drive to see the flourishing farming area of the Jimbour Plains.
