Welcome to New Orleans, La!!

This is a great photo op of the river.

You'll see several things here that are interesting.

You can see the bend in the river, the Crescent City Connections and of course the cruise ships.

The Etymology is Ojibwe meaning "Great River"

Some other interesting facts of the Mississippi River:

 The deepest part of the river is in New Orleans, where it reaches 200 feet (61 m) deep, at its source at Lake Itasca, the Mississippi River is about 3 feet (0.91 m) deep.

When measured from its traditional source at Lake Itasca, the Mississippi has a length of 2,340 miles (3,770 km).

The Mississippi River runs through or along 10 states, from Minnesota to Louisiana.

About 375 fish species are known from the Mississippi basin.

The Mississippi River has the world's fourth-largest drainage basin covering more than 1,245,000 square miles (3,220,000 km2).
