Geocache Description:

This geocache is placed with permission of Walden's Ridge Emergency Services.  Please park where you do not block the entrance and exit of the fire truck bays.

The television show Emergency! aired from 1972-1977, bringing attention to the new concept of emergency care provided in the field.  Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe starred as two paramedics (Gage and DeSoto) in Squad 51.   The paramedics worked in concert with Rampart General Hospital and Drs. Brackett and Early (Robert Fuller and Bobby Troup) and Nurse Dixie (Julie London).  Interestingly, some of the crew of Engine 51 were Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters; all the rescues protrayed on the show came from the fire station's logbook.  The show was technically accurate as every script was fact checked and approved by the show's technical consultants, Dr. Michael Criley (the physician who created the LAcoFD Paramedic program) and LAcoFD Battalion Chief, James O'Page.  Nearly 30 years after Emergency! debuted, the Smithsonian accepted Emergency! memorabilia (helmets, turnouts, bio-phone and defibrillator) into its National History Museum, public-service section.
