Historic train station for passengers and freight, was part of the railway line from the city of El Qantara on the banks of the Suez Canal to Haifa.
The station was established by the British and through Egyptian forced laborers, was inaugurated in November 1920.
In 1973, due to the closure of the railway line to Sinai, the Deir Suneid station was finally closed.
