Geocache Description:

This cache is at the posted coordinates.

Background

Welcome to my series of odd and miscellaneous challenges.

As noted in the description of the previous challenge cache GC9D25A 500 Hidden YY/MM/T Challenge Olio #8, I became inspired after the two D/T/T and D/T/S challenges. Seizing on that concept, I came up with two other challenges (this one and the last one) which I consider to be like close cousins to those first two D/T/T and D/T/S challenges.

The Challenge

Instead of being based on the Difficulty/Terrain level for a cache, this challenge is based on the cache's hidden year and month (similar to a Jasmer challenge), and then with the added dimension of cache size, also known as container type. So 2021/Oct/Micro, 2019/May/Not Chosen, and 2010/Jun/Large would be just three examples of these possible Hidden YY/MM/S combinations.

As of this cache's publication date (Oct 2021), there are 258 months available for this challenge since the first cache was hidden in May 2000. Multiply that number with all the cache sizes out there (7 including Micro, Small, Regular, Large, Other, Virtual, and Not Chosen) and there is the potential for (258+x7=) 1806+ possible YY/MM/S combinations. The + superscript is added because in theory, as more caches get published in the future, the number of candidate caches for this challenge just keeps growing.

To qualify for this challenge, you must find at least 750 caches with unique Hidden YY/MM/S combinations.

The Requirements

Some more things about the challenge to be aware of:

  • All cache types can be used for this challenge except for adventure lab caches, benchmarks, and any events (regular, CITO, mega, giga, HQ block party, HQ celebration, lost and found/community celebrations, and GPS exhibits). Events have been excluded from this challenge because they are only published for a short period of time before being archived and therefore have a very limited window of opportunity to log them.
  • Your year/month (aka Jasmer) grid does NOT have to completed in for the challenge, although it certainly doesn't hurt to have it completed. A finished Jasmer would automatically give you over a third (258+/750) of the required 750 combinations.
  • You can not use your own caches for this challenge.  In the past you were able to log your own caches.
  • Past finds count. Any caches that you have found and have been archived or disabled after you have found them can be used for this challenge if it meets the criteria.

The fine print

CO reserves the right to make any changes to this challenge if any issues or ambiguities are discovered. CO will be fair but has the final say on any events, caches, finds, or logs that are questionable. CO reserves the right to delete any logs if problems are found.

Finding This Cache

Do NOT access this cache from Highway 2 or the on-ramp. Please use the nearby service road instead.

Please remember to be respectful of the cache location. Be aware of how and where the cache is "attached" so that it can be put back in exactly the same way and in the same place for the next person(s) to enjoy. Only the "inner" portion of the cache needs to be removed to log the cache. The container may not be accessible during the winter months.

Logging This Cache

As with any challenge caches, you are welcome to physically sign the log for this cache and log it as "Write Note" if you haven't met the challenge's requirements yet. Please bring your own pen(cil)/writing instrument to sign the log.

Please use this Project-GC challenge checker below to verify if you have qualified for this challenge.

PGC Checker

By the way, if you click on any of the icons in the checker results table, it will show you which cache the checker used for that YY/MM/S combination.

As another tip, the output graphic produced by this checker could be useful for evaluating if you qualify for other challenges as well.

You can only log a "Found It" entry online after you've completed the challenge and signed the log. All non-qualifying "Found It" logs will be deleted without notice.

Similar Challenge Caches?

Whether you qualify for this challenge or not, you may also qualify for similar challenges as well.

If you know of any other caches similar to this challenge or if you want to replicate this challenge in your area, please let me know and I will add those caches here so that other cachers can be aware.
