If you’ve done any hiking near Gander Lake you may have noticed that there are some massive white spruce in the area. Some of these trees are over 100 years old and are large by Newfoundland standards. White spruce is not a common species in central Newfoundland but seem to flourish near the Lake. Some burned in a fire years ago and only their stumps are left.
You can access this cache from the Thomas Howe Demonstration Forest trail network from the main parking lot or from the Silent Witness road, either from West Lake road near the highway or the trail that starts at the bottom of the road at the lake. There is a branch trail that turns 90 degrees off both a ways along and is well marked. Cache is a bison tube and location will become obvious as you approach ground zero. Our 100th hide.
