Lea Railway Station opened on 1 August 1849 on the Great Northern and Great Eastern Railway. It closed on 1 December 1864 before reopening on 15 July 1867. It then remained open until closure for the final time on 6 August 1957. The line remains open.
Lea station is unusual as the station is above the tracks and passengers would have had to descend a large flight of stairs to get to the platform.
