Geocache Description:

War Memorial, Lancaster R5676

Lancaster R5676 from 1660 Heavy Conversion Unit, took off on 12 February 1943 from RAF Swinderby, never to return. It broke up in flight and crashed at 10.05am at Oldfields Farm with the loss of all crew.

Oldfields Farm has since been renamed Lancaster Farm and in September 2001, John Gorman, son of Jacqueline Gorman, the owner of Lancaster Farm, built and erected the memorial seen today. Members of all families, except F/Sgt Kennedy, as he is Canadian, have visited the memorial to pay there respects.
