Yea! we're having a Flash Mob! In Cunnamulla. Our FIRST ever.
Cunnamulla's best known resident is a bronzed Aussie with no name, wearing a wide-brimmed hat on his head and a mug of tea in his hand.
The Cunnamulla Fella Statue was created by sculptor Archie Sinclair from a drawing by Mike Nicholas. The statue is located in front of the Paroo Shire Hall in Cunnamulla gazing across the centre of the town. The Cunnamulla Fella Statue was unveiled on November 18, 2005.
There are a number of songs written about Queensland towns, but arguably the most famous is Cunnamulla Fella, popularised by Slim Dusty.
Stan Coster wrote the words to the song, and it's been recorded by numerous artists over the years. Here's an extract from the song - in fact, the final verse:
Now I've done a little fightin' in the western bars
Done a little lovin' neath the moon and stars
I wear bright clothes and shirts full of colour
And the girls know me as that certain feller
Yes he's the Feller from Cunnamulla
Yes he's the Cunnamulla Feller
WHEN:- Friday, 24th September 2021.
TIME:-0800 to 0830

WHAT TO EXPECT: - A flash mob is when a group of people assemble suddenly in a public place, perform something fun, something entertaining, maybe even satirical, with plenty of artistic expression, It is strictly for a brief time, then thye crowd quickly disperse just as suddenly again.
Exactly what is a secret - but never fear - all will be revealed just before the scheduled time.
Are you wondering what crazy activity you might end up performing? Can't let the cat out of the bag, BUT, for the Official Event Photograph (which goes onto the world-wide FlashMob web pages) we ask that you wear something approximating a Cunnamulla Fella or his 'shiela' ! The song says: "bright clothes and shirts full of colour".
