Why do we love goats at the Arboretum? If you look to the north you will see our beautifully restored savanna habitat. Our Conservation Team works hard to maintain a healthy environment so our native species can thrive. In 2020, we hired a special crew to assist with our vegetation management – GOATS! Over 100 goats grazed their way through the savanna. These eco-friendly “lawnmowers” effectively remove overgrown brush, ate away undesirable plants like poison ivy and green briar, and even left behind some fertilizer. J
After you discover the cache, hit the trails for a relaxing walk in nature. We are a 155 acre nature sanctuary with 5 miles of trails to explore. Restrooms and water are located in our Nature Center, which is open daily from 9am to 4pm. Trails are open till dusk.
Parking is located at our main entrance at 4501 Woodway Dr. or the 610 entrance located at 120 West Loop North. No entrance fee. Parking is free for members, $5 per day for non-members.
