GMC #14: Electronic Library

About This Location.

First settled in the late 1700s/early 1800s, Mannington saw its first tavern open in 1850. Originally known as simply the Forks of Buffalo, the settlement began being referred to as Koon Town after the last name of the tavern proprietor. Then in 1856, the village officially became known as Mannington, named after Charles Manning, a civil engineer with the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad.

About This Cache.

Welcome to the Mannington Library which is home to one of the two SMART caches on this gadget trail! I love finding geocaches inside libraries, so I couldn't resist including one on this tour of the county. This cache is only available Monday, 9am-7pm, T-F, 9am-5pm, and Saturday 9am-1pm. The library is closed on Sunday. For more information on the library hours, you can view their website here: https://mcpls.org/mannington/

There are two pieces to this letterbox hybrid geocache. The first step is to locate the LARGE size container located somewhere in the library. It is stamped with the geocaching logo, so you'll know it when you see it. On the lid is a clue to help you figure out how to open the four-digit combo lock. If you've ever done a library cache before, you should know what to do here.

To solve for the four-digit lock code, you will need to bring along a 9V battery. As with all geocaches on this tour. PLEASE PLEASE BE GENTLE with the electronics that make this cache possible. I hope you enjoy this cache!

THANKS FOR VISITING!
