Geocache Description:

Ready for a little hiking?  Well here's your chance to get out in the woods for a while.  This is part of a series of 5 caches that take you through some easy and some tough terrain.  You will encounter everything from open woods to piles of fallen trees.  You will probably have to cross at least 1 small stream, which isn't wide, but the banks are kind of steep in places.  Depending on recent weather you may find some muddy conditions, or snow in the winter.  Then you have your assorted run-ins with a variety of bugs, thorns, poison ivy and wildlife.  If you're lucky you might even see a bear (or unlucky depending on how you look at it).

This is not a "power" series of caches.  You will have to work for each one of them.  You will start off with a little puzzle at the begining to determine the final coordinates.  Then you will have to make your way through all of the possible obstacles to get to the cache site.  Once at the cache site you will be looking for container sizes that should be in the woods, not micros or smalls.  However, just because they are larger containers does not mean that the hides are easy.  Most of them are in areas where there are plenty of choices of hiding spots, so you will have to use your skills to make the finds.

This cache is in the gamelands.  WEAR ORANGE DURING HUNTING SEASONS, and avoid this cache during deer seasons.

If you can't find the cache, post a DNF.  DO NOT DROP ANY CONTAINERS!!

It's a challenging series, but it is very satisfying when you find one.  Good luck.

Now that you have some idea what you might be facing, and if you're ready for the challenge, let's get started with this one.

Near the posted coordinates you will find a signpost which is configured similar to the one below.

You will need to answer some questions based on the signs on the signpost.  You will only use the 3 signs going down the center.  The 2 outer signs will not be used for this cache.

OK, here we go:

The final coordinates are at N 42 00.ABC W 079 54.DEF

The total checksum for NORTH is 13, and the total checksum for the WEST is 38

For the north coordinates you will have to look at the sign in the center of the signs on the post (red and white sign).

A:  A is the digit that is used the most on this sign.

B:  B is how many time the most used digit is used.

C:  C is the least used digit on the sign MINUS the number of time the most used digit is used.

For the west coordinates you will have to look at the sign on the bottom.

D:  Look for the last word on the sign (bottom right corner).  D is the number of letters in that word.

E:  E is the number of screws holding this sign on the post divided by the number of screws holding the sign above it on the post.

F:  Look at the upper left corner of this sign.  There is a geometric shape.  F is the number of sides this shape has.

Now, check your answers with the checksums for a quick check.  If you get the right answers you are ready to find the cache.  Here is a little information about the hide.

The container is an oversized plastic ammo can.  It is hidden in an ordinary fashion. There are a lot of fallen trees in the area.  The tree that you are looking for is somewhat isolated from most of the others.  After you sign the log MAKE SURE THAT THE CACHE IS WELL HIDDEN!!

GO GET IT !!!
