Hurricane Gudrun (sometimes called the January storm in Europe in 2005) was a strong low pressure that on 8 to 9 January 2005 withdrew from the Atlantic and affected a large part of Northern Europe. Estonia’s highest water level was recorded in Pärnu, when floodwaters on the streets crested at 294 cm above normal (above the Kronstadt zero bench mark).
