Ooga booga was talking with an out-of-town geocacher the other day, and they mentioned that they'd like to see more caches around Columbia that were easy for families with kids to visit and didn't require a long bushwhack through the woods to find. Well, voila. This is also an easy cache to find for someone who's in town for an MU sporting event.
It may be hard to believe as you're walking along a tree-lined trail next to a creek, but at times there can be 50,000 or more screaming football fans, and 10,000 or more screaming basketball fans within just a few hundred yards of this cache. However, you probably won't run into too many of them on your hunt, even if it is a game day.
This cache is located along Providence Point, which also serves as part of the MU Recreation Trail. Although it's possible to drive right to the cache, I REALLY discourage it...for one thing, you're cheating yourself out of a nice walk in the woods, and for another, the road is extremely narrow, so I don't think its very safe to drive on.
Instead I suggest parking and walking in from near the Hinkson Creek Recreation Area off of Providence. I have provided a waypoint for the parking spot.
Please try and bring something small along those lines for trading. Please re-hide the cache and replace its natural cover when you're done.
