USS Langley CV-1
Though the USS Texas was the first US Navy ship to launch an airplane, she was not the first aircraft carrier that honor goes to USS Langley a converted Collier (a cargo ship for coal, which the Navy ran on at that time). She primarily acted as an experimental platform and is where much of the basic principles of aircraft carriers were first discovered, the same principles that are used on modern carriers. The USS Langley was also used in WWII as a seaplane tender (a floating seaplane garage practically).
N30 49. (125+C) C= the number associated with her time as a collier, when her name was USS Jupiter.
W87 2.(700+(L+1)) L= the last two digits of the year she was sunk by the Japanese.
