Geocache Description:

21 July 2021, 18:30 - 19:30

Do you want to have a lot of fun getting wet at an event? Then this could be the event for you!

******* Obviously this event is on rain or shine, but lightning in the area would be an issue, so check this page after 2PM on event day for any update.

What is this event all about? The concept is simple. This is a "Sponge War" event, our 6th non-consecutive annual. You do not have to participate in the water portion in order to attend this event, you can bring a chair to watch, chat and cheer on others from the shore.

Optional rules for those who want to participate in the "sponge wars" portion:  Any type of floating device (kayaks, rubber rafts, etc) to get you out playing in the water is accepted.  You MUST wear a life jacket. No ramming to intentionally flip or cause a person to be pushed into the pond.

Bring your sponges (the large car wash type would be best), squirt guns, buckets, or whatever propels water to defend yourself. You will be responsible for retrieving anything you threw or launched.
No balls - even a wet tennis ball hurts.
No water balloons -we don't want litter.

The event itself will only last for a short period of time, 6:30 PM until 7:30 PM.

An optional activity to make this event a little more fun involves collecting a rubber duck and placing it into a basket. Somewhere near the posted coords (out in the water) you will find someone with a collection of ducks and ask them for one. When you are given a duck you will write your name on it and make your way to a container and drop your duck in. ONE duck per person please, quantity of ducks available is limited.

Now the fun part - while you are making your way to the basket it is open season on you. You will be soaked with wet sponges and water guns. After you have dropped off your duck you are welcome to join the gauntlet.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Anyone on the water is in play and is an acceptable target. Friendly fire is expected and encouraged. This is supposed to be fun so let's play!

Just a note for any would be photographers out there ... Your presence on the water is an implicit agreement between you and the organizer of this event that any harm coming to you or your personal items is strictly at your own risk. You agree that you will not hold the event organizer nor the participants in the event for any damages caused to personal items such as electronics and cameras caused by water damage, flying paddles, unintended kayak roll overs, acts of God, or other unspecified mishaps. Should you decide to bring personal items onto a watercraft during this event, you do so at your own risk.
