Welcome to Grandview Hill, once the site in the 1930's thru the early 1960's Williams Bay's Winter Sports Complex. You are standing on what was the Toboggon Run, Sledding Hill and Ski Hill area that continued up the hillside behind the Village Hall. An Ice Skating Rink was down the hill near Hwy 67 with a refreshment stand & a warming shack.
Williams Bay was once known as "The Ice Boating Center of the World" and many legendary ice boaters live in the Williams Bay/ Geneva Lakes area. Locations in Williams Bay were also filmed in the 1996 Keanu Reeves/Morgan Freeman movie "Chain Reaction" with locals supplying ice boats, shacks and scenic locations.
It is also the home of the World's Largest Refracting Telescope and "The BIrthplace of Modern Astrophysics" at the currently closed Yerkes Observatory (July 2021).
The Village Hall contains the village offices and the police department. Gas, food and more scenic locations can be found along Hwy 67 and in Williams Bay. Please be courteous as you explore the area and enjoy the sights.
