Geocache Description:

The city of West Nyack is in the town of Clarkstown.  Clarkstown was originally named after the DeClark Farm just up the road a bit north of this location.  Unfortunately the corner where George Washington's troops camped, and a lot of other history can be found, is too busy for people to walk or stop near.  This spot is the "Last Horse Trough" in the area.  The trough itself is fed by an underground spring and horses used to drink from it on their way along the very busy road (it was just as busy in the 1800's as it is today).

Please be very careful of muggles in this area.  The library is very well used.

Since the trough itself is along the busy road, the cache isn't there.  You can safely get to the cache without going to the street.

This cache, along with others in West Nyack, is part of my Girl Scout Gold Award Project.   The goal of my project is to encourage people of all ages to get outdoors, explore and learn some local history.  I very much hope you enjoy my caches and help to teach others this activity that I love so much.

This cache has been planted with permission from the West Nyack Library.
