What was once a main hospital of North Otago, complete with its' own surgeons and a nursing school has now been replaced by a new lesser facility down in the flood zone of Oamaru
Up the hill from here was the main hospital which was demolished, the nurses home which has ben converted to motels and all that remains is the old boielr house with its' large chimney which serves as a reminder of what Nort Otago once had compared to what we have now.
