Geocache Description:

Cache is not at the published location - this a puzzle hybrid letterbox cache.

Placed on mid - winter weekend with help from muggle friends.

Northern Hemisphere Christmas traditions obviously don't translate that well down here in the South Pacific when the festive season rolls round. So, clever types realised the solution was to have two Christmas celebrations a year - a summer-themed one for the actual day, and a faux Yuletide marked in the middle of the southern winter, when heavy, tasty feasts in a snug dining room surrounded by friends and family make far more sense.

So on this faux Yuletide I placed a Christmas Themed Cache - all swag and letterbox items match this theme.

The location ties in to a real Christmas Story - 25 December 2016 resulted in the rewarded of a different Cache in my life, all thanks to P&Vee's find.

I remember her post on the local facebook about the above story. I commented that she gave up filling in the dot day to save the kitten, I said "She should call it Cache, then she could still say she found a Cache on Christmas Day!"

On Boxing Day I went over to hers and adopted this cute kitten.

You might not find any stray kittens around here but there is the chance to find a geo- Cache which will earn you a nice yellow smile :)

To find this cache;

You will need to do a projection from these co-ordinates. There are a number of free apps and websites you can use (search project co-ordinates) to help you complete this. There should be good phone signal out in this area to get online if you have not already solved the co-ordinates before heading out this way.

*Put in the posted co-ordinates S 46° 03.140 E 170° 01.940 into the top line.
*Then the angle (which is referred to as bearing) -  20.4 (1 decimal places)
*Then the distance -  1853.9m (1 decimal places)
*hit calculate button and you will get co-ords.

If you don't have data - use the compass on the app (top right of screen when navigating)/ or a traditional compass and turn until it is pointing to north. Now imagine if you stood in the center of an old analogue clock, each number on the clock is 30 degrees apart. So north is zero, 1 oclock is 30 degrees, 2 oclock is 60 degrees etc. You will have to drive gravel roads to find the cache.

Please note whilst some caches have pens placed in them, all cachers should bring their own. Photo logs are not acceptable substitutes and these logs will be deleted.
