Geocache Description:

The cache is a small plastic container containing a logbook, pencil and some small swaps. It is hidden close to the remains of Clashnessie Dun https://canmore.org.uk/site/4517/an-dun-clashnessie?display=image The Dun dates from The Iron Age (550BC - 560AD).

It is advisable to wear good, waterproof footwear as the terrain may be wet in places and the area where the cache is situated is rocky.

There are two ways to reach it- a short walk or a longer coastal walk. The shorter way is to park just off the Clashnessie Road in a small cleared area with some large boulders. Follow the road to the coast and the ruined building, then traverse the possibly wet ground towards the Dun and natural sea arch.

The longer way is to park in the small roadside parking area which is used for access to Clashnessie waterfall. https://www.world-of-waterfalls.com/waterfalls/europe-clashnessie-waterfall/ From here you cross the lovely little beach of Clashnessie and then follow the coast round to the Dun. Again it may be wet in places. On the way there is some interesting geology to spot and lovely pebble coves.
