In this otherwise ordinary suburb you can find a lot of history of how the Dutch settled in Rockland County. Rather random is this reconstruction of a log cabin in a primary spot in a Clarkstown Town Park. Built in 1976 to commemorate the Revoluntionary War on the 200th Anniversary. The cabin itself is interesting, though unfortunately you can't enter. Interesting that the commemoration doesn't note that a number of the West Nyack veterans of the Revolutionary War are buried just down the street in the Clarkstown Reformed Church cemetery.
Be very aware of muggles as the park is very popular in summer months.
This cache, along with others in West Nyack, is part of my Girl Scout Gold Award Project. The goal of my project is to encourage people of all ages to get outdoors, explore and learn some local history. I very much hope you enjoy my caches and help to teach others this activity that I love so much.
This cache has been planted with permission from the Town of Clarkstown, permit number 24.
