Geocache Description:

HYDE PARK RESORT ON ROUTE 66 CACHE

"Park Your Hide at Hyde Park!" Such was the pitch to weary travelers on Route 66 in the 1940s and 1950s looking for some R&R on one of the longest straightest stretches of the highway. Sitting on top of a low hill at milepost 117 about 18 miles west of Seligman, on the north side of Route 66, the resort offered cabins, a café, a Shell filling station and garage, and even a swimming pool for refreshment. Although there isn't much left of the old resort today but some foundations, a sidewalk or two, and the swimming pool, one can only imagine what a relief pulling into Hyde Park would have been after a long, hard, dusty day on the Mother Road.

This cache is located on Arizona State Trust Land. The State Land Department has no problem with geocaching, but we ask that participants observe the following: A Recreation Permit is required to legally access State Trust Land. These permits are easily obtained by using the following link to obtain a permit application -  (Arizona State Land Department's website)

Large, easy pull-off parking on the north side of Rt 66 across from Hyde Park Road near cache is available.
