Geocache Description:

This park has a basketball court, central gathering area with picnic tables, and other points of interest. It hosts movies and concerts in the park, as well as Duesey Days events and more.

Garner is the county seat of Hancock County. It was named after Col. W.W. Garner, a civil engineer on the Rock Island Railroad. In 1870 Garner was platted by the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railway and was incorporated in 1881 with a population of 321 at that time. By 2010 the census population was 3129. In 1873 a wooden school was built here but soon grew to small. In the 1880's the Duesenburg brothers operated a bicycle sales and repair business in Garner. They later went on to build Duesenburg automobiles. In 1894, a large brick school was built at this location, the bell from the school remains here in the park.

Most of the activities for Duesey Days(named after the Duesenburg Brothers) are centered in and around Central Park.
