Credit River SC - Plankton Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GuelphHiker: This cache hasn't been found in four years with one recent DNF. Most of the other caches on this section of the Credit River Sea Creatures series have either been archived or have similarly gone three or four years without a find so I'm archiving this one now. Thanks to all who visited.

Geocache Description:

This is one of the Credit River Sea Creatures series of caches and is intended to be done while floating down the Credit River in a tube or canoe. A sequenced list of all of the caches in this series from Norval to Eldorado Park is available.

Plankton are a very diverse group of organisms comprising thousands of species that float in the ocean since they lack any significant means of propulsion.  Most species are microscopic and some can carry out photosynthesis (phytoplankton) and others cannot (zooplankton) and these in turn feed on phytoplankton.    Plankton form the basis of the marine food chain and provide food for larger sea creatures including some whales.
