Tower Hill

The tower was built in 1977 and occupies the summit of the hill on which the town was built.
It is also thought to be the site of the old Magginis Castle and the birthplace of the Australian Highway, Captain Moonlight.
Rathfriland is a large village set on a conspicuous hill (506ft) between the Mourne Mountains, Slieve Croob and Banbridge, dominating the plain anciently called Magh Cobha. It takes its name from the large rath or ring Fort, which lies towards the east in County Down, Northern Ireland.

Rathfriland Castle is a ruined castle at Rathfriland, County Down, Northern Ireland. The castle was a square building of 3-4 storeys with a stone barrel vault at the first floor level to reduce the risk of fire and was one of the seats of the Magginis's, Lord Of Iveagh.
There is a blue plaque heritage trail at the Rathfriland Vet Clinic.
There is also 3 blue heritage plaques at the old ruins of the castle.
