Asukayama was laid out by Tokugawa Yoshimune and has been famous for its cherry blossoms since the Edo period. And in 1873, it was designated as one of the first parks in Japan.
Eiichi Shibusawa spent about 30 years from 1879 until his death in 1931 in a mansion on the south side of this park. Although most of the mansion was destroyed by fire in the war during World War II, the Western-style tea house "Bankoro" and the library "Seien Bunko" remain in the former Shibusawa Garden. Both are nationally designated important cultural properties as modern architecture from the Taisho era.
There are three museums in Asukayama: Shibusawa Memorial Museum, Kita City Asukayama Museum, and Paper Museum, where you can learn more about Shibusawa Eiichi.
Paper Museum is located here because Eiichi Shibusawa established Japan's first paper mill in Oji in 1887.

飛鳥山は徳川吉宗が整備を行い、江戸時代から桜の名所として有名でした。そして1873年に日本初の公園のひとつとして指定されました。
渋沢栄一はこの公園の南側の屋敷で、1879年から亡くなる1931年までの約30年間を過ごしました。第二次世界大戦の戦災で、屋敷の大半が焼失しましたが、洋風茶室の「晩香廬（ばんこうろ）」と書庫として使われていた「青淵文庫」が旧渋沢庭園内に残り、いずれも大正時代の近代建築として国指定重要文化財となっています。
飛鳥山には３つの博物館「渋沢史料館」「北区飛鳥山博物館」「紙の博物館」があり、渋沢栄一についてさらに知ることができます。
紙の博物館は、1887年に渋沢栄一が日本で最初の洋紙工場「抄紙会社」を王子に設立したことからこの地にあります。
