COVID CHANGES TO THE EVENT
Lodge will be closed all weekend for us. EVERYTHING WILL BE AT CABIN 13 OUTSIDE
We are going to change things up because of the COVID increases. We did not want to cancel like last year. EVERYTHING WILL BE OUTSIDE.
We have cancelled the lodge (enclosed space) and moved everything to CABIN 13. No one will be allowed in Cabin 13. If you need bathroom you will have to use the regular public bathrooms. We want to keep everyone safe. If you want to wear a mask (whether you got the shots or not, there will be no judgement).
When we are at the campfire please sit in your groups.
If it is raining or snowing we will leave the log out somewhere.. So you can drop by and sign the log and cache all day and stay away from people.
We also have decided to cancel the Gadget cache Competition for just this year.
.
Hosted by the Friends of Lake Wapello!
They kindly provide us with the insurance that we need to hold our event here!
There will be brand new caches for the event at Lake Wapello.
100 caches
We will load your GPS'r with all the new caches we have put out. You will need to bring your cables just in case we do not have yours. There is no internet service in most of the lake. Lake Wapello is a terrible place for phone reception. So it will be hard to find caches with your phone. GPS'r is highly recommended.
Friday and Saturday night at Cabin 13 usually has a big fire going with cachers relaxing and sharing stories. (You might even get hints on where to find a cache you could not find that day) The fire will probably be going all day Saturday and Sunday morning at Cabin 13. You will need to bring a folding chair and snacks (for yourself or to share and feel free to use the fire to heat or cook your snack) and anything you want to drink and enjoy for a fun and relaxing time with fellow cachers. There is usually someone still by the fire till about 10pm.
When you log your "Will attend" please put down how many people in your group so we can buy enough food for the weekend. If you do not plan on eating one of the meals please put that down too.
Lake Wapello has 13 cabins and electric and non electric sites for camping, tent and RV, modern shower, restroom facilities, as well as trailer dump station.
