On the South facing hillside of the Peres/mountain, just above the village of Tereny, lie some very interesting and unusual geological formations from 19 to 23 million years ago. Their origin is in the ancient Pannon Sea, where sand got pressurised by the weight of other layers, as well as geologoical and chemical transformations. Under these pressures some of the sand calcified and hardened. Over the millenia erosion took away the surrounding softer rock and sand, and now they stick out in their weird form, some resembling mushrooms, other look like benches, pidgeons, turtles or sharks.
The route to the rocks is quite adventurous. There is no hikers' paths, not even unmarked ones. Once you leave the Blue Stripe markings you have to follow your GPS through overgrown, meadows, hunters' towers, rocks and thorn bushes. The effort is rewarded with these unique geological features, which are rare not only in Hungary, but in the entire region.
The cache is on a tree about 5ft 7"high.
