This is one of my favourite places. I've made many memories with amazing people in this area.
You're standing next to the entrance to Mosney woods. Continuing under the bridge(gate is open most of the time) leads to a lovely forest walk. Keeping left takes you to what used to be the Mosney Holiday Centre, keeping right takes you deeper into Mosney.
The Mosney Holiday Centre was a holiday camp in Mosney, Ireland. It first opened in 1948 as a Butlin's Holiday Centre, the first outside the UK, and operated as such until 1982 when the camp was sold. It is now a centre for those seeking asylum in Ireland.
If you continue along the trail, not going through the gate, you will find a scenic walk towards Ben head, Gormanston. The army trains here occasionally, keep an eye out for a red flag flying. This means they're training and you won't be allowed to continue!
I hope you enjoy this place as much as I have.
