San Zeno - Saint Zeno

La chiesa di San Zeno (XII secolo) fu parrocchia fino al 1788, poi fu sconsacrata.
Successivamente il marchese Luigi Malaspina di Sannazzaro (1754 - 1835) l'acquistò e la fece demolire in parte per allargare il suo palazzo.
Verosimilmente Francesco Petrarca (1304 - 1374) risiedeva nella parrocchia di San Zeno quando sostava a Pavia. Nella chiesa fu sepolto il nipote nel 1368, il Petrarca dettò un'epigrafe latina che fu posta sulla sepoltura - ora è conservata nei Musei Civici.

The church of Saint Zeno (XII century) was a parish until the 1788, then it has been deconsecrated.
At a later time the marquis Luigi Malaspina of Sannazzaro (1754 - 1835) aquired it and demolished a part of it to broaden his palace.
Ostensibly Petrarch (1304 - 1374) resided in Saint Zeno's parish when he stayed in Pavia. The grandson had been buried in the church in the 1368, Petrarch dictated a latin epigraph that was placed on the burial - now it is conserved in the City Museums.
