Geocache Description:

I came across a note book and a map in my grandfather's basement. The notebook was old and water stained. Inside the notebook my grandfather wrote of a mysterious civilization that lived in the area alongside the Seneca's. The civilization was from an unknown origin, they had their own written language, and one day, disappeared without a trace. My grandfather was trying to decipher some of their writings, but key pages in his notebook were torn out. What I did find was a map that only showed a starting point with a cryptic symbol in the corner. The symbol seemed important, but I had no clue what it meant.

I need your help to solve my grandfather's mystery. Apparently the trail can only be found at night and once you reach the end, you will find an ancient artifact that needs to be deciphered in order to unlock the treasure inside.

The coordinates will take you to the starting point indicated on the map. From there, I have no idea where to go. If you go there when it is dark, the map says "the way will be revealed by the light of your torch". Study the map carefully and follow the hidden path. Once you reach the end, solve the puzzle and put the mystery to rest.

To Find This Cache

The posted coordinates will start at the trailhead from the parking lot on Old Penfield Rd. There is room for 8-10 cars. From there it is a short hike (less than two tenths of a mile) down hill to find the cache.

You will be looking for a trail of reflective tacks on the trees beside the trail. Follow these tacks until you see two placed close together on the same tree. This indicates a turn off the path. Next, look for three tacks close together on the same tree. This will indicate the end of the trail and the cache will be within nine meters from here.

County rules state that the park closes at 11:00pm, however there is no gate on the parking area and from the conversations I have had with park staff, you shouldn't need be worried if you are out a few minutes past 11:00pm.
