Parcul Reconstrucției
Parcul Reconstrucției este mărginit de străzile Reconstrucţiei (de unde şi numele), Lungă, I.L. Caragiale şi Câmpului. Deși este numit Parcul Reconstrucției oamenii din Sibiu îl știu de Parcul Mortilor. Chiar dacă sună sinistru ca un parc să fie numit așa (denumirea nu este oficială), acest lucru se datorează faptului că mai demult în acest loc era un cimitir.
În secolele trecute fiecare religie iși avea propriul cimitir, separat unul de altul. Aici, în acest loc se afla cimitirul evanghelic, dar din 1945 a fost cedat greco-catolicilor; odată cu desfiinţarea cultului în 1948, cimitirul a fost închis de autoritățile comuniste, efect al modernizării urbane. Oasele găsite în urma săpăturilor au fost mutate în cimitirul de pe strada Calea Dumbrăvii.
O hartă de la 1914 a oraşului ne prezintă situaţia de aici: cum treceai pe podul de peste Cibin, imediat în stânga (vizavi de "Cibinul") era cimitirul săracilor. La Biserica Dintre Brazi, cimitirul greco-catolic. Pe actuala Înfrăţirii (unde e biserica), cimitirul ortodox. În "Parcul Morţilor", cimitirul romano-catolic. Acesta apare atât pe prima hartă a oraşului, de la 1699, a lui Giovanni Morando Visconti, cât şi în primul ghid al oraşului, de la 1790, realizat de Martin Hochmeister: "Cimitirul catolic se află în afara Porţii Sagtor, dincolo de Cibin, în strada Lungă".
Pe locul cimitirului a fost construită o clădire a Poştei Române iar în anii 80 a fost clădirea Telefoanelor (astăzi lăsată în paragină), iar pe o altă parte din vechiul cimitir greco-catolic există şi un parc cu loc de joacă pentru copii căruia localnicii îi spun "Parcul Morţilor".
Astăzi Parcul Mortilor/ Reconstrucției este cât se poate de viu. A fost renovat, aleiile au fost pavate, bancile rupte au fost înlocuite cu unele noi dar cel mai important (zic eu) locul de joacă a primit noi topogane și leagăne. Acum chicotelile și râsetele copiilor înveselesc parcul.

Although it is called Reconstruction Park, the people of Sibiu know it as the Park of the Dead. Even if it sounds sinister for a park to be called that (the name is not official), this is due to the fact that there used to be a cemetery in this place.
In past centuries, each religion had its own cemetery, separate from each other. Here, in this place is the evangelical cemetery, but since 1945 it has been ceded to the Greek Catholics; with the abolition of the cult in 1948, the cemetery was closed by the communist authorities, as a result of urban modernization. The bones found after the excavations were moved to the cemetery on Calea Dumbrăvii Street.
A 1914 map of the city shows the situation here: as you crossed the bridge over Cibin, just to the left (opposite "Cibin") was the cemetery of the poor. At the Dintre Brazi Church, the Greek Catholic cemetery. On the current Twinning (where the church is), the Orthodox cemetery. In the "Park of the Dead", the Roman Catholic cemetery. It appears both on the first map of the city, from 1699, by Giovanni Morando Visconti, and in the first city guide, from 1790, made by Martin Hochmeister: "The Catholic cemetery is outside the Sagtor Gate, beyond Cibin, in Long Street ".
On the site of the cemetery was built a building of the Romanian Post and in the 80s was the building of the Telephones (now abandoned), and on another part of the old Greek Catholic cemetery there is a park with a playground for children whose locals I say "Park of the Dead."
Today the Park of the Dead / Reconstruction is as alive as can be. It was renovated, the alleys were paved, the broken benches were replaced with new ones but most importantly (I say) the playground received new slides and swings. Now the giggles and laughter of the children cheer up the park.
