Zapuščena vas Slapnik
Slapnik je gručasta vas brez stalnih prebivalcev v občini Brda.
V 18. In 19. stoletju je bila to premožna vas, o čemer pričajo velike bogato oblikovane hiše z značilno briško arhitekturo. Po drugi svetovni vojni pa so se prebivalci začeli izseljevati na Koprsko, v obalna večja mesta in celo v Argentino. Tako vasica že desetletja sameva.
Po pol ure vožnje od Nove Gorice nas vijugasta cesta pripelje v bližino vasice. Najprej, ko izstopimo iz avta nas preseneti čist zrak. Po kratkem sprehodu po bolj kot ne kolovozni poti pa pridemo do vasice, ki se razprostira na manj kot 2 km2. Veter, ki rad pihlja tod okoli nam v nos prinese odvisno od letnega časa morda vonj po češnjevih cvetovih, ki jih tukaj ne manjka ali vonj po zrelih marelicah in figah. Zemlja tukaj je res rodovitna. Že ob vhodu v vasico opazimo ogromno kostanjev, tukaj domujejo oljke in veliko vrst sadnega drevja.
Sprehod po sami vasici pa je res nekaj posebnega. Očara nas s svojo podobo, za raziskovanjem starih hiš, ki pričajo, da so tod nekdaj živeli premožni ljudje. Ljudje se spominjajo, kako živahna vas je bila to. Pridelali so vsako leto tudi do 5 ton maronov, rastlo pa je takorekoč vse. Zakaj je vasica ostala sama ne ve nihče. Menda je bilo moderno se izseliti v večja mesta in tako so odšli praktično vsi.
Danes, ko se sprehodimo pod obokom glavne ulice v vasi se zdi, da vasica čaka, kot speča lepotica, da jo nekdo prebudi iz njenega spanja.

After World War II, the residents began to emigrate to Koper, coastal cities, and even to Argentina. As a result, the village has been deserted for decades.
After a half-hour drive from Nova Gorica, a winding road brings us near the village. First, when we get out of the car, we are surprised by the clean air. After a short walk on a more or less dirt road, we reach the village, which spans less than 2 km2. The wind that blows around here brings us the smell of cherry flowers, which are not lacking here, or the smell of ripe apricots and figs, depending on the season. The soil here is really fertile. Upon entering the village, we notice a huge number of chestnuts, olives, and a variety of fruit trees.

After a short walk on a dirt road, you arrive at the village, which covers an area of less than 2 km2. The wind, which often blows here, brings the scent of cherry blossoms in the spring, olive trees and various types of fruit trees throughout the year. The land here is very fertile. As we enter the village, we notice a large number of chestnut trees, olive trees, and a variety of fruit trees.
A walk through the village itself is truly special. It captivates you with its appearance and invites you to explore the old houses that testify to the fact that wealthy people once lived here. People remember how lively the village was. They used to produce up to 5 tons of chestnuts each year, and almost everything grew here. No one knows why the village was abandoned. It was apparently fashionable to move to bigger cities, so almost everyone left.
Today, as we walk under the arch of the main street in the village, it seems that the village is waiting like a sleeping beauty to be awakened from its sleep.
