Geocache Description:

A multi-cache taking you to a statue acknowledging the visit of MLK to Newcastle in 1967. The statue was unveiled on the 50th anniversary of his visit. The final is a short walk away.

Please note that access is available Mon-Fri 09:00-17-00.

On the 13th of November 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King Junior visited Newcastle to receive an honorary degree from Newcastle University - the only UK university to do so during his lifetime. Dr. King was presented with his degree by the Duke of Northumberland (who was then the University's Chancellor) to become an Honorary Doctor of Civil Law. He gave an inspirational acceptance speech about the struggle for racial justice. To commemorate this, a statue of Martin Luther King Junior, located in King's Quad, was unveiled on the day of the 50th anniversary, 13th November 2017.

A short video of the historic event can be seen here

Looking around the small area you find yourself in...

A few yards behind MLK's left shoulder you will see a light mounted on brickwork. There is a three-digit number underneath - black letters on a yellow background. Assign A to this three digit number.

Look closely around you and you should see a small metal plaque attached to a brick wall. From this plaque :

B. = The number of letters in the first problem mentioned.

C. = The third digit of the third year on the plaque.

D. = The sum of the first two digits on the plaque.

E. = The first digit of the first year on the plaque.

F. = The number of letters in the surname of the close confidant.

G. = The number of letters in the surname of the sculptor.

The final coordinates are :

N54 58.(A * 6)+((E + F)*(D + E)) W001 36.BCG

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
