Geocache Description:

Congratulation to Makana50 for being the FTF.

Michael Brownell the President of the Brownsville Cemetery Historic Preservation Association has graciously given his permission (In writing) to place this geocache in the cemetery.  Please respect the area and don't disturb any headstones or gravesites. This geocache is a small container with a screw on lid containing a small note pad, two small pencils and some items to trade.  It is located in the historic Brownsville Cemetery about 1/2 mile from Brownsville Marina on Roanoke Road in the Marine View Estates housing area. There is a plaque explaining the history of the cemetery at the bottom of the steps leading up to the cemetery.  If you don't want to walk up the steps you can continue walking straight a few feet and go around the posts with a chain to the other end of the trail. Either way will take you to the geocache. The geocache is easy to access and you will not need to disturb any gravesites and will only need to venture off trail a couple of feet. As you walk through the cemetery take notice to the little nooks and crannies in the trees for items that people have placed there over the years.  Please do not take any but feel free to add your own.  There is also a Cemetery Gnome Home in the hollow of a tree on Gnome Way (The lower path of the cemetery). It is personalized with items related to Gnomes.  Please do not remove any items but feel free to add your own. There is a bench along the far end of the trail that was placed there as part of an Eagle Scout project.  The bench over looks the Port Orchard Bay and is an excellent place to sit and relax to enjoy God's creation and take in the sounds of nature. You can also see Mount Baker and Bainbridge Island.  There have been sightings of  Whitetail Deer, Coyotes, and Squirrels in the cemetery.  The Port Orchard Bay is home to Bald Eagles, Blue Herons, King Fishers, many species of Water Fowl, Harbor Seals, Otters and occasionally a Sea Lion.  So while you're in the area stop by the marina and walk around. There is also a geocache at the Marina.
