Situata nel bosco a sud di Vaglio, la Torre di Redde o di S. Clemente è di origine medioevale; faceva parte di un complesso abitato comprendente un villaggio (Redde), la casa-fortezza e una chiesa.
Il villaggio fu abbandonato nel ‘500, forse a causa della peste, e di esso restano tracce di muri coperti da terra e foglie. Sopravvive invece la chiesetta di S. Clemente, risalente anch’essa al XIII secolo e posta a circa 300 metri dalla torre.
La torre faceva parte di una casa-fortezza del ‘200, costruita per la famiglia comasca dei Rusca, allontanatasi da Como e stabilitasi nel Ticino (Magliaso, Bedano, Torricella, Bironico e Bellinzona) con lo scopo di controllare la via delle Alpi.
Della torre, di forma rettangolare, a quattro piani, restano i muri spessi più di un metro, alti circa 15 metri. Il tetto in piode e i solai in legno sono crollati.
Questa cache si trova nelle sue vicinanze, in un bosco che mi ha da sempre affascinato per la sua bellezza, in particolare nelle belle giornate di autunno in cui si può godere dello spettacolo dei colori degli alberi.
Degna di nota anche la Festa di Redde, una manifestazione a carattere medievale che si svolge proprio nella cornice di questi boschi incantati. Purtroppo, causa pandemia, anche l'edizione 2021 é stata annullata.
La cache non contiene la penna, ma solo il logbook. Ci sono vari accessi per raggiungerla, ma vi consiglio di lasciare l'auto al parcheggio dell'Arena Sportiva di Tesserete. In questo modo, oltre a farvi una bella passeggiata, potrete ammirare le sculture di ArtInBosco (una serie di installazioni che appaiono fra gli alberi lungo il sentiero, sospese o posate a terra).
L'altro accesso, con una passeggiata meno lunga, ha partenza a Vaglio, ma non c'é parcheggio nelle immediate vicinanze (ci sono solo un paio di posti a bordo strada).

Located in the woods south of Vaglio, the Tower of Redde or of S. Clemente is of medieval origin; it was part of an inhabited complex comprising a village (Redde), the house-fortress and a church.

This cache is located in its vicinity, in a wood that has always fascinated me for its beauty, especially in the beautiful autumn days when you can enjoy the spectacle of the colors of the trees.
Also noteworthy is the Feast of Redde, a medieval event that takes place right in the frame of these enchanted woods. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the 2021 edition was also canceled.
The cache does not contain the pen, only the logbook. There are various accesses to reach it, but I recommend that you leave your car in the parking lot of the Tesserete Sports Arena. In this way, in addition to taking a nice walk, you can admire the sculptures of ArtInBosco (a series of installations that appear among the trees along the path, suspended or placed on the ground).
The other access, with a shorter walk, starts in Vaglio, but there is no parking in the immediate vicinity (there are only a couple of places on the roadside).
