Geocache Description:

Farnley Hall Fishpond was built in the 19th Century by the soldiers who had returned from fighting in the Napolionic Wars to give them employment.

It was taken over in 2004 by Leeds City Council.

Some years ago the dead tree trunk was admirably carved in the style of a totem pole.  More recently some idiot decided it would be a 'good idea' to set it on fire destroying much of the artwork .

It is quite pleasant being surrounded by trees and inhabited by assorted wildlife.  The pond contains fish but only the birds and animals are allowed to remove them.

Cache placed with permission of Leeds City Council, Parks Dept.

The adjacent Farnley Park has a car park, enjoyable walks and a children's play area.
