We have been passing this mural for years and always thinking it was a great piece of art and someone should place a cache here. But nobody ever did. It was only after visiting the Colinton Tunnel and doing the cache over there that gave us the idea of doing a cache here.
The mural, or The Big Wall project, was created in 2014 but Chris Rutterfor. It's a 60 metre long mural that was created for the local community of Mayfield and Easthouses and involved pupils from local schools: Mayfield Primary, Lawfield and St. Lukes Primary. One of the main goals was to involve the community in the actual manufacture of the picture, as well as featuring them in the content of the painting. The murall shows the annual Childrens Gala Day, which usually has taken place at the beginning of June.
