Heinävesi on tunnettu kauniista luonnostaan ja mm. Heinäveden vesireitistä, joka luetaan kansallismaisemaksi. Kunnassa sijaitsevat Valamon ja Lintulan luostarit. Kirkonkylältä löytyy Heinäveden kirkko, jonka kupeesta avautuu hienot maisemat Kermajärvelle.
Heinäveden vaakunassa lipuu eteenpäin suurien metsien vihreää kultaa. Kultainen ruori ohjaa sitä pitkin Heinäveden reitin hopeista virtaa.

Heinävesi is known for its beautiful nature and for the Heinävesi waterroute. The Heinävesi waterroute is considered as a national landscape. Valamo Monastery and Lintula Convent are located in the municipality. From the church of Heinävesi you can see great views over the lake Kermajärvi.
You can see references of water and green gold of the big forests in the Heinävesi coat of arms.
