The Series

Do you love mystery caches?  Do you love D/T (Difficulty/Terrain) ratings?  if so, we have a GREAT series for you!!!

The Jackson County Agritourism Geo-Trail 81 series (JCAT-81) has been placed for YOU! We do have to fess up that the series isn’t actually in Jackson County, but it’s a stone’s throw away and an awesome set of caches.  If you complete all 81, you will have completed an entire D/T grid. Total fizzy awesomeness!

The majority of the caches are hidden in Sandy Creek Park.  There is an entrance fee of $2 per person to enter.  Current park hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closed on Mondays. (Note: Hours can change-- please check with the park before making your trip plans)

The caches are hidden in a variety of containers and styles.  The puzzles will help build your puzzle-solving skills.  Be on the lookout for some JCAT-81 Puzzle-Solving events where we will help you solve some of the tougher ones.

This series is a collaborative effort of “The Puzzle Posse”!  The Puzzle Posse consists of Bragger407, GeoMonkeyTiger!, LaFavorite Cacher, and poeanne.

This Cache

This cache is rated a 4.0/3.5.  The puzzle may be challenging for some.  Be sure to read the Certitude message carefully when you verify your coords!   The physical hide is a small lock and lock.  Please be sure to put back securely.  It will take a bit of a hike to get to GZ.  It is in an area prone to flooding, so visiting after heavy rains may increase the Terrain rating!  Be sure to bring water, bug spray, and possibly a snack!  Note that you may see some fences marking private property.  Please respect the fence lines as the cache is on the park side of the fences...

This Puzzle

(This puzzle brought to you by GeoMonkeyTiger!)

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates.

The farm animals went on an epic road trip with Farmer MacDonald.  One of the things they loved doing was finding other "animals" on the road!  They made a list of some of the animals they found.  Farmer MacDonald presented it to the animals:

Stop # Coords
1 42.723185, -88.994857
2 31.707881, -83.651914
3 61.182163, -149.932567
4 34.999379, -117.647524
5 33.535188, -85.645858
6 38.831550, -104.823794
7 32.269196, -81.079977
8 35.788806, -83.556585
9 39.310398, -94.924847

The cows looked it over, and thought it was a good list, but they had one suggestion.

"We don't like the order!" they said.  "We think you should list them in order of our favorite spots!"

Farmer MacDonald thought about that for a minute and decided that was a great idea.  "What order do you think they should be in?" he asked.

The animals thought about it and said, "Here are our spots in the order we think they should be in: Bear, Ant, Elephant, Pig, Catfish, Dinosaur, Chicken, Horses, Cow."

Can you put Farmer MacDonald's stops in the order the animals suggest to create a new 9-digit number?  For example, if the Bear was stop 9 and the Ant was stop 8, your number would begin, "98..." (Note: those are not correct!)  Enter the new 9 digit string into the Certitude checker.  Be sure to read the Certitude message carefully!
