Elijah Mikaelson is one of the originals and probably the most polite vampire you’ll ever meet. Unlike his brother Klaus, he is much more trustworthy and almost always keeps his word.
We are first introduced to Elijah when he is presented Elena as a deal by two vampires looking for forgiveness. After Elena is rescued by Damon and Stefan, and Elijah is presumed dead after being staked. It’s revealed that originals aren’t so easy to kill.
Elijahs original goal was to stop his brother from unlocking his true hybrid form. Probably the most family orientated of his siblings, his wish was to get the rest of his family back from the coffins Klaus keeps them staked and sleeping in.
Although very polite and proper, he also has a bit of a temper and can be just as moody and dangerous as his brother. He is shown to regret certain decisions he has to make. After Elena is almost killed by his sister, he writes her a letter detailing his apologies of his involvement in the situation. Elijah was even able to tame Katherine from her wicked ways for a short period of time, and convinced her to be a better person and hand over the cure.
In the end, Elijah was the only one who could convince his brother to do the right thing and move away in order to take care of his child.
