The Series

Do you love mystery caches?  Do you love D/T (Difficulty/Terrain) ratings?  if so, we have a GREAT series for you!!!

The Jackson County Agritourism Geo-Trail 81 series (JCAT-81) has been placed for YOU! We do have to fess up that the series isn’t actually in Jackson County, but it’s a stone’s throw away and an awesome set of caches.  If you complete all 81, you will have completed an entire D/T grid. Total fizzy awesomeness!

The majority of the caches are hidden in Sandy Creek Park.  There is an entrance fee of $2 per person to enter.  Current park hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closed on Mondays. (Note: Hours can change-- please check with the park before making your trip plans)

The caches are hidden in a variety of containers and styles.  The puzzles will help build your puzzle-solving skills.  Be on the lookout for some JCAT-81 Puzzle-Solving events where we will help you solve some of the tougher ones.

This series is a collaborative effort of “The Puzzle Posse”!  The Puzzle Posse consists of Bragger407, GeoMonkeyTiger!, LaFavorite Cacher, and poeanne.

This Cache

This cache is rated a 5.0/1.5.  The puzzle will be extremely challenging!  The physical cache is a LARGE container, located a short distance off the trail.  It will be a bit of a hike to get to GZ, but it will all be on established trails.  It's a good idea to pack some bug spray, water, and possibly a snack for the hike!

Every year, the Georgia farm Bureau held a conference.  Farmers from all over state would attend to see the latest in farming techniques, test new equipment, and compare notes with fellow farmers.  The highlight of the conference is usually the panel discussions.  Top experts from across the state will debate and discuss pertinent farming topics, offering a diverse view of important subjects.

This year was exciting as Farmer MacDonald was selected to be on a six-person panel, discussing two of the prevailing methods of crop planting.  Farmer Stephens would argue for variable-width planting.  This involved planting the crops in rows based on the size of the actual crop, even if that meant some plants were closer than others.  Farmers Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe on the other hand would argue for a monospaced planting.  Their argument was better results would occur if all of the plants were set out such that each one occupied the exact same amount of space.  Farmer MacDonald was an interesting addition to the panel as he was on the fence on the topic and planned on using the panel to help inform his own opinion.  The 6 farmers would definitely have a lively discussion.

Everything started well, but the initially orderly discussion escalated into quite a passionate debate.  Trying to make a point, Farmer MacDonald leapt from his chair to use one of the nearby charts.  Unfortunately, he tripped and fell headfirst against the edge of the table.  He was knocked unconscious.  The others came to his aid.

After a moment, he regained consciousness and immediately asked for a pen and a piece of paper.  He quickly scribbled out a note.  The note read:

WHEN THE OMEN OF POOR CORN GROWTH,
CHANGES OF AUTUMN DO IN FACT OFTEN
CRATE MOO WITH ME,VERITABLE CHANGES
WITH TERROR.HIT A FENCE, CAN ONE
WAIT POT OF PI FOUR CLIFORD AND
CREAMY MILK CLASSSES OUT OF SPACE

He handed the note to Farmer Stephens.  He studied it carefully and decided it didn’t make any sense and that Farmer MacDonald must be seriously hurt from the blow to the head.  However, Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe wanted to study the note as well.  They looked at it for a bit, and decided that while on the surface the message was confusing, they understood exactly the question that Farmer MacDonald was asking and knew the answer.
