Geocache Description:

The cache contains a log, but no pen.  BYOP.

NOTE: This cache is hidden in an area that periodically swarms with muggles.  Please do not attempt the cache when it is too difficult to avoid attracting unwanted attention.

Opinions vary with respect to what makes a great cache site, and undoubtedly some will not necessarily view this geocache with relish, but after finding the container, it will be pretty hard for anyone to quibble over the appropriateness of the cache name.  The site has been around since the CO came to town almost about 39 years ago (August, 1982, the same month this cache was placed).  It's fallen into disuse, but recently got a bit of a facelift.

Owner, and family, are pleased to offer this cache.  We aborted an earlier attempt after misjudging the size of container that the site can sustain, and it took a long time for us to get to round two.  Sadly, round two failed as well, but this time, the CO has selected a reliable cache container that has been a success at another location for well over a decade.  The original idea was to offer a trading cache, but it is clear after these earlier attempts that this site really isn't a great choice for a larger container.  That said, it isn't a nano, and replacing the log after a find won't be a big ordeal.

Not everyone thinks this side of town is that great, but, nonetheless, the neighborhood is okay.  LeTourneau University and the Belcher Center are a boon to this part of the 'hood, and that's not to mention we now enjoy a doughnut shop right across the street, and there are several other eating facilities in the area that have continued to draw people for years.

One of the positives of this location is that the cache maintainer is in the neighborhood every day of the year.  The youngsters have grown quite a bit, and now have their own accounts, so even they can help should maintenance needs arise - did I mention, the new container is not one that should fail based on past experience.  If you enjoy having to use stealth, well that's another point in its favor; this cache is for you!  It is a park and grab.  There's no need to trek all over the place in our Texas heat.

The pavement nearby has a lot of potholes and the ground around the cache is moderately uneven, though hard-packed, so it seems reasonable to believe that a wheelchair-bound cacher could find and retrieve the cache.

I guess it'll be up to finders to decide if it lives up to its name or not, but once its found, confidence is hight that you'll be okay with it and maybe drive off having had a bit of a chuckle to boot.  We all could use a bit of a grin now and then.

wink
