Bridge 46, also known locally as Bevan's Lane Bridge. The Bridge stradles the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal and is navigable from Five Locks, Pontnewydd up to the basin at Brecon.
In September 2020, a flotilla of water craft and many locals gathered at the bridge to highlight the length of time, at present 3 years, the construction of the new bridge has stopped navigation to the marina at Five Locks.
A Facebook group 'Bridge 46 to Five Locks', was formed to bring concerned and passionate canal lovers together, which quickly resulted in over 2000 members.June 2022 over 4000 members now.
Meetings held with the building developers, Torfaen County Borough Council and Admins of the Community group, has resulted in a positive outcome and the necessary work to the water channel under the bridge, coupled with some necessary weed control, the canal will once again be navigable.
