The steep road to your left is Bonair Drive. It drops off West Seattle's hilltop, along the west side of Duwamish Head. It ends up at the beach along Alki Avenue. It used to be known as the Old County Road. At one time, it was used as a walking shortcut to and from the ferry dock to Seattle. People traveling from neighborhoods around Admiral used this shorter route versus walking all the way around the beach road.
