iBienvenidos a un nuevo caché! Os presento EL CAU DE ELCHE
Mariano Ros, un hombre jubilado, decidió empezar con este proyecto en una montaña de Elche. Consistía en esculpir la piedra creando bonitas obras visuales. Comenzo en el año 2000, junto a sus amigos Cándido y Pere, hasta que en 2008, le prohibieron continuar al ser un lugar público. La mayoría de esculturas que encontraremos son de Mariano Ros, aun que las más nuevas ya las hizo Cándido. Puede dar la suerte que en una de las visitas al Cau, esté Cándido por allí, al cual podréis preguntar lo que queráis sobre el Cau.
¿Qué tallaban? Obras emblemáticas de Elche, como puede ser la Dama de Elche, el Misteri, presa del pantano, Iglesia de Santa María entre muchas otras. También homenajes a familiares, personajes públicos queridos de su ciudad, construcciones como torres, pirámides y dos cuevas, que por una de ellas viene el nombre de Cau (madriguera) donde dispondrás de un libro para poder saludar o escribir un comentario.

En 2017 llegaron malas noticias,
por desgracia, Mariano falleció en 2017, a los 91 años.
Mariano Ros talló su propia escultura dejándo los dos últimos números sin tallar, los cuales acabó tallando su amigo Cándido.
Este fue el homenaje que dedicó Cándido a sus amigos Mariano y Pere.
La última escultura realizada, fue un homenaje a los sanitarios. Actualmente no se están esculpiendo más, si no que se mantienen las que ya hay y se les da color cuando vuelven a necesitarlo.
Recomendaciones y precauciones: Depende de la estación en la que lo visitemos, llevar suficientemente agua, calzado adecuado y ropa de abrigo. NO destrozar nada, ya que son los propios usuarios que vienen aquí quienes hacen el mantenimiento del lugar. Respetar senderos y caminos y recoger vuestra propia basura. Para llegar hasta allí, podemos hacerlo desde el propio movil buscando El Cau en internet. Dejaremos el coche en algún hueco cerca de la carretera que no moleste cuando el gps nos indique continuar por montaña.
SOBRE EL CACHÉ
El caché se encuentra cerca del cartel azul del mirador de las mellizas, se encuentra resguardado.
Es un contenedor micro, contiene solamente el logbook, necesitaréis para escribir y un palillo o semejante para sacar el logbook.
Depende la hora y el día que lo visitemos, deberemos ser discretos al manipularlo y que no nos vea nadie.
NO HAY QUE LEVANTAR PIEDRAS QUE FORMEN PARTE DE MUROS, MOJONES, HITOS Y DEMÁS CONSTRUCCIONES QUE HAYA HECHO ALGUIEN NI CAMBIAR COSAS DE LUGAR, si lo haces, te estás equivocando.
Está puesto en ese lugar a propósito para que nadie destroce nada intentando encontrarlo.

Welcome to a new cache! I present you EL CAU DE ELCHE
Mariano Ros, a retired man, decided to start this project in a mountain in Elche. It consisted of sculpting the stone creating beautiful visual works. It began in 2000, together with his friends Cándido and Pere, until in 2008, they prohibited him from continuing as it was a public place. Most of the sculptures that we will find are by Mariano Ros, although the newest ones were already made by Cándido. You may be lucky that in one of the visits to the Cau, Cándido is there, to whom you can ask what you want about the Cau.
What were they carving? Emblematic works of Elche, such as the Lady of Elche, the Mystery, dam of the reservoir, Church of Santa María among many others. Also tributes to relatives, beloved public figures of their city, constructions such as towers, pyramids and two caves, which for one of them comes the name of Cau (burrow) where you will have a book to say hello or write a comment.

Bad news came in 2017,
Unfortunately, Mariano passed away in 2017, at the age of 91.
Mariano Ros carved his own sculpture, leaving the last two numbers uncarved, which his friend Cándido ended up carving.
This was the tribute that Cándido dedicated to his friends Mariano and Pere.

The last sculpture made was a tribute to the nurses and doctors. Currently they are not being sculpted, but they are being kept and they are given color when they need it again.
Recommendations and precautions: It depends on the season in which we visit it, bring enough water, suitable footwear and warm clothing. DO NOT destroy anything, since it is the users who come here who do the maintenance of the place. Respect trails and roads and collect your own garbage. To get there, we can do it from the mobile itself by searching for El Cau on the internet. We will leave the car in a hole near the road that does not bother when the GPS tells us to continue through the mountains.
ABOUT THE CACHE
The cache is located near the blue sign of the mirador de las mellizas, it is sheltered.
It is a micro container, it contains only the logbook, you will need to write and a toothpick or similar to remove the logbook.
It depends on the time and day that we visit it, we must be discreet when handling it and that no one sees us.
DO NOT RAISE STONES THAT ARE PART OF WALLS, MILESTONES, AND OTHER CONSTRUCTIONS THAT SOMEONE HAS MADE OR CHANGE THINGS OF PLACE, if you do, you are making a mistake.
It is put in that place on purpose so that nobody destroys anything trying to find it.
