Farewell Bend Park is located along the Deschutes River near the base of the Bill Healy Memorial Bridge. Trails here connect the Old Mill District to the northeast, to Riverbend Park across the river and to the South Canyon Bridge.
Artwork: “Two Bits” by artist Greg Congleton is a life-size horse logging sculpture about 950 feet to the northwest of the cache location. Commissioned to celebrate the timber industry that put Bend on the map in the early 1900s. The work is constructed of mostly antiques and found objects such as a copper fire extinguisher, sewing machine, and chain saws.
The micro-sized geocache hidden in this park is part of the Bend Arts, Culture and Adventure GeoTour. There is an info card inside the container which contains the BACA GeoTour Secret Code needed to complete the GeoTour passport and collect a trackable GeoTour coin. BACA GeoTour Passports can be picked up at The Bulletin, 320 SW Upper Terrace Dr, Suite #200 Bend, Oregon, or at participating sponsor locations. Visit www.bendbulletin.com/geocache for more information.
