Geocache Description:

Located in Camillus, NY, the Erie Canal Park is a nice restoration of a big chunk of the old Erie Canal. Good biking, nice walking, put Rover on the leash and bring him out… It’s not uncommon to see a canoe on the water, low-cost boat rides are available on the weekends (spring and summer) and the little ones are almost guaranteed to catch fish. Nice museum, too.

The Cache: yet another world-class ammo can out among the central New York bushes. Start your quest on the Stevenson Wildlife refuge side of the park, the trail is an easy walk. However, since you won’t be staying on the trail you may want to wear long pants or at least have bug spray with you. May be a few thorny bushes in your future, too- depends on how you venture in to the cache den. Maybe 100 feet or so off of the trail, tucked up under an overturned tree root with some branches slightly covering the can. The cache is starting off with some pretty good prizes… This cache makes a nice double-header along with Capt. Midnight’s Canal Cache as they are in the same park.

As always- watch out for poison ivy, sumac, etc. when out and about!
